Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall for select units of the Baleno and Wagon R hatchback to inspect a possible fuel pump related issue. Owners of the suspected vehicles under this recall campaign will be contacted by an authorised Maruti Suzuki dealer in due course.
Which models are affected?
Cars affected under this recall include the Wagon R 1.0-litre, manufactured between November 15, 2018 and October 15, 2019, and all Baleno petrol models, produced between January 8, 2019 and November 4, 2019. Overall, 1,34,885 cars have been recalled by the manufacturer.
Customers can also verify themselves if their car is affected under this recall. Owners of the Wagon R will have to log on to www.marutisuzuki.com while Baleno owners will have to visit www.nexaexperience.com and then go on to the ‘Imp Customer Info’ section. Here, owners will have to enter their vehicle’s 14 digit alpha-numeric chassis number in order to check if their vehicle needs any attention, and then follow the instructions provided.
It’s worth noting that this is not the first time Maruti Suzuki has recalled the Wagon R 1.0-litre. In August 2019, Maruti announced a recall for 40,618 units of the Wagon R 1.0-litre to inspect a potential issue of the fuel hose fouling with a metal clamp.
Why is Maruti recalling these models?
The cars are being recalled for checking if the fuel pumps are faulty. Maruti Suzuki will inspect 56,663 units of the Wagon R 1.0-litre and 78,222 units of Baleno petrol and replace the faulty part free of cost to the customer.
Recently, the automaker introduced a car-leasing service in partnership with Orix and also launched a new loyalty programme for its customers dubbed ‘Maruti Suzuki Rewards’. In terms of launches, the carmaker recently introduced the S-Presso S-CNG at Rs 4.84 lakh. Maruti’s next launch will be the S-Cross petrol that’s powered by the 105hp, 1.5-litre engine from the Ciaz and Ertiga.
