When Suzuki rolled out the Gixxer 250 BS6 and Gixxer SF 250 BS6, we were quite pleased because unlike the smaller Gixxers, these 250s were only around Rs 3,500 more expensive than their BS4 predecessors. Unfortunately, the Japanese manufacturer has now once again hiked prices within just 2 months of the BS6 launch.

On the upside, the price hikes aren’t anything major: just a tad over Rs 2,000. On the downside, you’re not getting anything extra for that additional 2 grand. The bikes themselves are completely unchanged, meaning that they’re powered by the same single-cylinder 249cc oil-cooled motor churning out 26.5PS at 9300rpm and 22.2Nm at 7300rpm.
The SF version is a fully-faired sports tourer while the regular Gixxer 250 is a naked streetfighter, but they both share the same basic underpinnings. They’re held together by a single-downtube frame and suspension is taken care of by a conventional telescopic fork and preload-adjustable monoshock. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS is standard.
