The current-gen from giving it a swansong of sorts in India with the launch of the 3 Series Gran Turismo Shadow Edition priced at Rs 42.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in the sole 330i M Sport design variant, it gives the 3 Series Gran Turismo a blacked out makeover.
It is offered in the Alpine White, Melbourne Red Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic and Estoril Blue Metallic body shades. It gets dark elements for the grille, LED headlights and taillights, as well as black chrome exhaust tailpipes. A new set of jet black 18-inch alloy wheels make up the dark shadow exteriors.
Heading inside, the 3 Series Gran Turismo Shadow Edition gets all the bells and whistles from the MSport variant such as aluminium door sill plates, key with M logo, an M sports leather steering wheel, ambient lighting and panoramic glass roof. Other notable bits include wireless charging, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear view camera, and electronically adjustable driver and passenger seats with memory function.
Safety kit consists of six airbags, ABS with brake assist, dynamic stability control, traction control, cornering brake control (CBC), runflat tyres with reinforced sidewalls, and a crash sensor.
Under the hood is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-charged petrol engine that makes 252PS of power and 350Nm of torque. Paired to an 8-speed steptronic automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, the gran tourer goes from 0-100kmph in 6.1 seconds and electronically limited to a top speed of 250kmph.
There's no word yet on when exactly BMW will pull the plug on the locally produced 3 Series GT in India. But with the launch of the Shadow Edition, it looks like it will stick around for sometime.
