Carlin's Jehan Daruvala's qualifying struggles continued at round six of the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Barcelona, with the Indian driver lining up 12th for the feature race. His teammate and fellow Red Bull junior driver Yuki Tsunoda qualified 6th in the end.

Practice for the two Red Bull junior drivers was relatively low key but still within the mix with the front runners. Heading into the first half of the 30-minute qualifying session, Daruvala's initial lap put him in 10th, with Tsunoda 5th and the top 10 drivers separated by only half a second.

Unfortunately, in the closing stages of qualifying, Carlin's second half quali struggles crept up again. Neither Jehan Daruvala nor Yuki Tsunoda improved on their positions and in fact were relegated down to 12th and 6th respectively for tomorrow's feature race.

There is some hope for both Carlin drivers heading into the 37 lap (60 minutes) feature race. High track temperatures and the track being susceptible to high tyre wear opens up possibilities for variable strategies up and down the field. This could propel both drivers to a strong top 8 finish which in turn could end up in a strong starting position for the sprint race on Sunday. The top eight finishers from the feature race line up in a reversed order for the sprint race.

The feature race commences on Saturday at 8:15pm (IST). It will be streamed live on the official F1 YouTube channel.
