The Bajaj Dominar and price hike is a better love story than Twilight. Our readers will know that the older Dominar 400 received a price hike almost every month and this resulted in it kind of losing the VFM quotient slightly since its launch. With the new BS6 Dominar 400, Bajaj kind of justified the premium, but it has again increased the price of its flagship motorcycle. The Bajaj Dominar 400 BS6 now retails for Rs 1,96,258 - a hike of Rs 1,507. Apart from the Dominar 400, the Dominar 250 prices have also been increased and the premium is even more steep on the 250cc offering. The Bajaj Dominar 250 now retails for Rs 1,64,090 - a massive price hike of Rs 4,090 (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). As is the norm, Bajaj hasn’t made any statement for the price hike and it was done silently on its website.

Apart from the price hike there has been no cosmetic or mechanical made on both the motorcycles. The Bajaj Dominar 250 was launched earlier this year and it’s the first 250cc motorcycle from Bajaj. With the Dominar 250, the Chakan-based two-wheeler giant wanted to make the Dominar range more accessible to riders in terms of cost and the riding experience. The Bajaj DOminar 400 had received a major facelift in 2019 when it got equipped with USD fork, new dual-instrument console and dual-channel ABS was made standard. As part of the BS6 update, only the engine was upgraded to meet the new BS6 emission norms. The updated BS6-compliant engine delivers the same 40PS at 8,800rpm and 35Nm at 6,500rpm as its BS4 predecessor.

Despite the price hike, both the Dominars still offer a combination of performance, features and equipment that’s unparalleled in their respective segment for their retail price.
