  • He was succeeded by Stefano Domenicali who will now become the CEO of Formula 1 in 2021.

  • Winkleman was also the CEO of Audi Sport from 2016 to the beginning of 2018 after which he became the CEO of Bugatti.

Automobili Lamborghini has announced a change in the position of president and CEO. Though a new person has stepped into the role, it is the face of someone quite familiar with the Italian carmaker. Stephan Winkleman who was the President and CEO from 2005 to 2016 has once again been appointed in the same role.

Winkleman's predecessor and also his replacement when he first stepped down in 2016, Stefano Domenicali, will join the world of Formula 1 as CEO from 2021 in place of Chase Carey. Under Domenicali, the Raging Bull has seen quite a few revolutionary changes such as the brand's first SUV, the Urus, which also significantly increased its global sales figures.

Arriving in 2005 in the same capacity, Winkleman held quite a few senior roles in the Fiat Group before becoming the President and CEO of the Raging Bull. Prior to his departure from Lambo in 2016, Winkleman headed the arrival of the V10 Huracan and V12 Aventador and its subsequent limited editions and one-off models. He was also in-charge when plans to introduce the Urus were first announced.

After stepping down, he joined as CEO of Quattro, or as it is now known, Audi Sport. He has served as the CEO of Bugatti since the beginning of 2018 and will continue to lead Bugatti in the same capacity in addition to his role at Lamborghini.
