Toyota Camry Hybrid Facelift Revealed In Europe India Launch Expected In 2021

While the is still only around two years old in India, Toyota has given the hybrid sedan a mid-life refresh in Europe. Continuing to ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the updates to the sedan are subtle inside and out.

Starting off with the design, the majority of the changes are up front. It gets a revised front bumper with a new upper grille. The lower grille is now wider with subtle silver accents on the edges. Other changes include a new set of 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels, tail lights with refreshed internals and a new Deep Metal Grey body shade.

Inside is where most of the changes are. The most notable one is the floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is placed higher on the dashboard. It gets mechanical buttons and dials, as well as a faster OS with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. You're also treated to new Beige or Black premium leather seat upholstery options.

Another notable update in the Camry Hybrid is the presence of the latest Toyota Safety Sense features. This includes an updated pre-collision system with front-to-front oncoming vehicle detection, emergency steering assist and intersection turn assist. There's also adaptive cruise control that works with road sign assist and lane trace assist.

Under the hood, the Camry Hybrid remains mechanically unchanged. Powered by a 2.5-litre self-charging petrol hybrid engine, it makes a combined total of 218PS power and is paired to a CVT gearbox. It's capable of driving in pure EV or pure ICE mode or a combination of both.

Back home, expect the Toyota Camry Hybrid to get the facelift around 2021. It will most likely carry a small premium over its predecessor that is priced at Rs 39.02 lakh (ex-showroom). At the moment, the Camry belongs to a niche category with no rivals in the country.
