Among several segment-first features, what really gives the Gloster bragging rights are its ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems) features, such as a forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

MG Gloster engine options
The Gloster uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel unit paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. However, the lower Super and Smart variants use a version with a single turbocharger, with 163hp and 375Nm, and rear-wheel drive.
The Gloster Sharp and Savvy, meanwhile get a twin-turbo derivative that produces 218hp and 480Nm. On-demand 4WD is standard with the twin-turbo diesel.
MG Gloster price and rivals
MG India’s flagship model is larger than other full-size 7-seat SUVs in the market today, such as the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra’s Alturas G4. The big, bold MG SUV intends to lure buyers away from the competition by offering more space, more power, a longer list of equipment and more modern technology at competitive expected price of Rs 30-35 lakh (ex-showroom).
As we found out in our Gloster review, MG’s SUV is quite capable, refinement and ride quality are stand-outs, interior space is more than ample and the equipment list is vast. It can feel a bit sluggish at low revs, however, and its big dimensions can be a challenge in tight spaces.
The MG Gloster seems to be poised to make the same impact the Hector did in its segment. Only prices and time will tell if this holds true.
